I'm having trouble logging onto our domain without vista logging me on using a tempory profile - I've moved my old xp profile data out of my network share and am now left with a blank folder - I have a script that is run at logon to connect 3 network drives.
The error in even viewer is... ------------------------------------- Log Name: Application Source: User Profiles Service Date: 21/06/2006 08:24:47 Event ID: 1521 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: APR\DGR Computer: BETA-PC Description: Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - The network path was not found. -------------------------------------
My username is an domain administrator - and i have full admin rights over that folder - I can browse that folder in explorer and can copy and paste files to and from it...
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, am a little lost...

Roaming profile problems
Cause is detailed in under description, event viewer -"Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. ..." As you now, the roaming profile is stored on the server - when logging in the profile is "sent" to the local computer - if any changes made during that logon period the changes are reflected to the roaming profile. If a roaming profile is not available the local profile is used. Your problem appears to be either - not connecting to the server or your roaming profile has been moved or deleted - may have been a result of "I've moved my old xp profile data out of my network share "

This was happening when my XP data was still in the network share as well, I removed the data in the share after the path could not be found error occured... thinking that vista was trying to receive the profile from a different folder structure... Basicly there is nothing in my profile directory that is important - I'm trying to start a-fresh preparing in advance for a roll out over the domain when the released product is available and working out what problems may occur...
There was an error with the DNS server which was preventing lookups of the FQDN for the domain controller - but I have since resolved this, I was concerned that this could have been causing the "network path not found" error... but this didn't change the scenario.
I should have mentioned that the domain i'm connecting to is a windows 2000 domain. The DC being the windows 2000 server and the backup DC being 2003 server running exchange 2003 - is there any prep needed on AD before this vista machine is added to the domain (something ive missed etc) and If so what steps should I have taken before attempting to join the domain..?
